smart houses
home automation or domotics is the technology behind creating smart homes and smart houses. It allows users to control their home environment, including lighting, temperature and similar appliances. It involves electrical modification and programming electronics to create a responsive sensory environment in living spaces.
Home automation technology gives users control of their entire house through their own smartphones. Meaning that less and less physical effort is required to maintain and run a household. The great part is that domotics is becoming simpler than ever and doesn't require complex equipment. Anything with an electrical connection in the house can be easily hooked up to a wireless hub and controlled wirelessly on your phone.
Nest Labs is one such company that introduced home automation to the world in 2011, with sensor-driven, WiFi-enabled smoke detectors, thermostats, security cameras and other automated products. They quickly became quite popular and the startup generated amazing profits within a year or so and was later acquired by Google Inc. in 2014.
